Size Guide
Welcome to our Size Guide! We created this page help you find the most ideal collar size for your pet. Keep in mind, all collars are made-to-order and sales are considered final. Please don't guess your pet’s measurements!
To ensure your pet's safety, never force a slip-on collar over that is too snug, and please make sure you've used a soft tape measure accordingly with the instructions below.

Slip-On (O-Ring) & Martingale Chain Collar Size Guide
Slip On (O-Ring)
Martingale Chain
Instructions
- Measure the widest part of your pet's head snugly with a soft, flexible measuring tape.
- Widest part of your pet’s head is typically in front of their ears, in the middle of the head. Do not pull so tight that the fur bows out, but also do not add fingers or extra space between the tape measure and fur.
- If your pet has larger neck than head, select the larger measurement to ensure a comfortable fit. This should be where you expect collar to lie, generally in the middle (not at the base).
***IMPORTANT: If you are using a body measuring tape that inserts back into itself (it has push button retraction and a ‘handle’ housing the tape) this must be used accurately. These body tape measures are to be inserted back into itself around your pet’s head/neck. If used correctly, it should be hands-free measuring on your pet. Do not attempt to use it like a soft flexible measuring tape as these typically begin at 2” to account for the tape measuring housing.
*Please do not use a hard measuring tape.
*Please select the head measurement as measured. We accommodate for the size of the beads and attachments on our end

Buckle Collar Size Guide
Side Release Buckle
Plastic Side Release Buckle
Instructions
- Measure the middle of your pet's neck with a soft, flexible measuring tape where you would expect the collar to lie.
- Please ensure your dog is standing, while taking this measurement (yes, this matters!)
- Ensure the measure is snug. Do not pull so tight that the fur bows out, but also do not add fingers or extra space between the tape measure and neck.
*Please select the neck measurement as measured. We accommodate for the size of the beads and attachments on our end
*Do not measure the base of your pet's neck, but the middle.
*Do not measure your old buckle style collar for an accurate fit; beaded collars are not flat fabric collars.

Collar Comparisons
Plastic Side Release Buckle
- Hang ID/tags (through loop or on buckle notch)
- Allows for more beads on the collar, great for styling your pet
- Not recommended for walking
- Select for a more snug fit around the neck, when Slip On/Martingale is not desired
- Plastic side release buckles snap on and off with ease
- Strongly recommended for small dog breeds that have small mouths and shorter necks for a more snug fit around the neck for safety
- Recommended for medium-haired pets for ease of removal
Plastic Breakaway Buckle
- Most popular option for our cat friends 😺, also recommended and used by dogs!
- Hang ID/tags
- Plastic breakaway buckles secure into place around the neck
- If collar catches on anything, twisting or pulling will allow the buckle to break free for your pet's safety
- This is the ONLY style option we recommend for outdoor cats
- Cannot be used for walking
Considerations:
- Similar to flat styles (fabric, biothane, etc) of collars, for safety we recommend always taking off collars during play, when crated, and whenever your pet may be unsupervised.
- Please measure your pet as outlined in the size guide and do not guess, to ensure the collar is neither too tight nor too loose.
- Although tightly strung, these collars are best suited for short hair breed dogs.
- Martingale chains across all materials can show discoloration on lighter-colored fur.
- Please note: Topical flea and tick meds interact with our sealed wooden beads and acrylic beads; we do not recommend wooden or acrylic bead styles for those who use topical flea/tick meds on their pets.
- Please see our FAQs page for additional common questions & answers regarding our products, different bead styles, etc.
- Bead Sizing: Jumbo -> Regular -> Mini -> XS beads from biggest to smallest; please reference photos and description within listings for bead sizing.
- Small dog breeds such as chihuahuas and pomeranians that have small mouths and shorter necks, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND to select the buckle style for a snug fit around the neck for safety.
- Our ceramic, resin, and semiprecious bead selections are our most durable options due to material hardness.
